Hi everyone, It's been a while since I last posted, so I'm gonna try to answer a bunch of questions....... Weight loss: After my first season on Design on a Dime- and seeing myself on national television!- I wanted to get back to my regular weight. Stress and too much Taco Bell on the run had assisted in putting on about 25 extra pounds. I never felt I was fat, but I'm more comfortable and energetic at the weight I live at now. I lost the weight using the Zone program- all of my meals were delivered each night in a cooler bag, all I had to do was pick up water on the go and keep the bag with me. While expensive, I wasn't buying groceries or eating out, so it evened out dollar for dollar. I do it for a month at the beginning of each year to maintain and I've found that it's a healthy, doable program for me. For those of you who felt I was too thin for a period- I received many concerned emails- there was a period where I was working far too much, and lost a bit more than what looked healthy. I think I'm at a natural weight currently. Thanks for your concern! Sunscreen: Wierd how many emails I get about this! I'm Irish, and have very fair freckly skin. I try to stay out of the sun, and wear at least 30 sunblock under my makeup and on my arms and shoulders. My legs almost never see the light of day! Marriage: Scott and I are still engaged- going on 11 years- with no plans for a wedding in sight! Work seems to eat up every second of our time, so the thought of planning it always outweighs the excitement of doing it. We keep saying next year, ok next year..... Watches: So many questions about my watches.....Most of the ones I wear on the show are by Diesel. They're big and rugged and don't cost much- which is great since they're all covered in paint! Clothes: I almost always buy clearance or at outlets. I don't have a particular store or brand that I consider a "go to" source, but find that a little Banana Republic conservative mixed with quirky boutique items is good for variety and goes together in an unmannequiney way. Yes, I do match my install and reveal outfits- at least the shirt- to the color scheme of the room. As a designer, I feel the room is the star, and by harmonizing with it you get a more complete visual effect. This seems to really bother a handful of you- I don't want to be jarring in the space and feel this extra little effort really drives home a feel. The guys, however, fight me on it. They get hugs when they show up and match, and scowls when they don't. They think it's silly, and I think sometimes, wear completely clashing things just to see me get so distraught about it! I love 'em despite their crazy shirts.... Applying: While I'm no longer taping new episodes, www.pietown.tv continues to take applications to be on the show. So many of you have asked about Design on a Dime coming to your city or state. Unfortunately, the production company only accepts homeowners who live within a 30 mile radius of North Hollywood, CA. I know, it's not fair, but that's how the show was set up when it began. There is, however, the Chicago team now, so who knows if the show will keep branching out. Appearance schedule: My Rachael Ray segments are randomly aired, so I don't always post when they'll be on- sometimes I don't even know! I'm working with my webmaster, though, to try and get date postings up when we know in advance.... thanks, y'all, for tuning in for them! Straight paint lines: I think I've posted about this before, but I seem to get more emails about it than anything else. After applying tape and burnishing-rubbing the edges in with your thumb or the back of a sthingy- apply a thin layer of acrylic gel medium at the seam where tape meets wall with a foam brush. It'll go on milky, but dry clear within a few minutes. Don't put it on too heavy, as this'll cause bubbling in the tape. Same with paint- if you roll too heavy toward the tape, you essentially push paint under it. After the medium is dry, you have an "invisible seal". Use your paint loaded roller to fill in large areas and as it gets dryer, roll the tape lines, pulling roller in direction away from tape-pull don't push. When you pull tape away- and you should do this while it's still damp- pull at an angle, away from where the crisp line needs to be. Take your time with this, and your golden! You can get the acrylic gel medium at art supply stores like Michael's and Pearl in the acrylic paints aisle. That's it for now! xo, kc

Hello, My name is Erica, and I not the most creative, however I know what I like and don't like. I know how I want it, just don't know where to begin. For example, my fiance is good to help hang pictures, etc, but when you say, "it's too high", he thinks your wrong. I always tell him Kriten on DOAD, said pictures should be eye level. I recently moved in my rental home, which will be mine one day (hopefully :-) but there is one room that is so awkward-Living Room. It's the strangest space I've seen. It really doesn't make sense how it's made, and I don't have any help on suggestions. My friends suggestions just doesn't equal to my vision. I know there is something that we can do. I have ideas, and don't know what to do with it, or wher to begin. Kristan I really need your help and your teams' help. I've been a fan of the show and love it. I get really good ideas, just need a kick start. I think we can be perfect candidates for the show. What do we do. I know the colors I want it the living room, only thing is I want to bring the white walls out, and the couches are burgundy/red. I NEED YOUR HELP...you should see the space. Thanks Kristian

I love your show and the clever, tasteful ways you have of changing a space. I have 'an issue' in my kitchen that I'm unsure of how to resolve. Our home is just 4 yrs old and we're just getting the ugly builders' paint covered. The woodwork trim is white, I got 'brave with the walls' and they are a dark green, which I love. The cabinets are builder grade in a natural finish. My intent has been to pain the cabinets white, like the woodwork, which I think will look good against the dark green. However, my appliances are almond, in color...which was fine with the original colors, but now? Do not have budget to get new appliances, so now I'm uneasy about painting the cabinets white. Any siggestions? ? HELP! Thanks.

From episode 1204 recently, I saw you make some sconces, hung on the wall using "ceiling medallions" as a background for the sconce, surrounded by a background color of paint, edged in a narrow molding. The only "medallions" I have seen at home stores like Home Depot's and Menard's have what seems like a quite large hole in the center, too big for the sconce to cover it. Exactly what type of medallion did you use.
P.S. Always great shows!!!

Kristan, I love you, and the show, with the guys & all. You have created some amazing make-overs. What I am concerned with is when you use the table saw, or drill, or nail gun, or other power tools. It makes me winch when you do. I just don't want you to get hurt, or lose an eye. And for the young people watching, it does not promote safety. Thanks for listening. I love all of you, and just doing the motherly watching out for you!!!!!! Love to all, Sharon

Kristan, I love your show. I am inspired by your creativity. In my opinion you are the best. I have been updating our house since the day ? Well, it seems like forever. I am a stay at home mom so I have to make my improvements very cost effective. I have a basement that is making me crazy. With the help of Friends we are soon to complete tile work on most of the floor. when this is complete I will have to come up with decoration direction. I want to make good choices so that the value of the house increases instead of decreasing. Thank you, Jennifer E
